New Car Market in Russia: April Figures Are Released

According to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, a total of 113,380 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia in April 2026.

According to data obtained from PPC JSC, the market size in April 2026 was 117,257 units, which is 10.8% more than sales in April last year. In the first four months of 2026, sales of new passenger cars and LCVs in Russia increased by 3.4% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 372,126 units.

Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Alexey Kalitsev comments:
"April generally looks quite positive: sales are showing signs of recovery; however, it is still too early to speak about the formation of a sustained trend."

"The current dynamics are largely driven by a combination of factors, including the traditional seasonal pickup in demand during the spring period, as well as the effect of pent-up demand accumulated over previous periods."

At the same time, a number of constraining factors continue to affect the potential for further growth. These include, in particular, the still elevated price levels, limited purchasing power among part of the population, and consumer caution when making major purchasing decisions. Nevertheless, we are observing certain shifts in the market, which we will closely monitor in the coming months."
