New Car Market in Russia: March Figures Are Released

According to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, a total of 100,933 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia in March 2026.

According to data obtained from PPC JSC, the market size in March 2026 was 102,077 units, which is 22.9% more than sales in March last year. In the first quarter of 2026, sales increased by 0.3% compared to the same period of 2025, totaling 254,867 vehicles.

Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Alexey Kalitsev comments:
“March demonstrated strong growth compared to the first two months of the year. However, the first quarter was characterized by only a slight increase in sales volumes of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. We are observing market growth driven by the activation of deferred demand, as well as by news regarding an increase in the disposal fee for vehicles imported through EAEU countries. Despite this, the market continues to be influenced by global external factors and a high financial burden. Based on current trends, it is still premature to speak of any market turnaround. We will continue to monitor its development and regulatory measures that may affect future demand levels.”
