JATCO commenced shipment of 4-speed ATs for small FWD vehicles (JF414E) at the end of May 2012 to Russian manufacturer, AvtoVAZ. The ATs are produced in JATCO's Fuji Area No. 4 plant. These 4-speed ATs will be installed in AvtoVAZ's Lada Granta, which is scheduled to be launched in Russia from August 2012. About 80,000 units per year are to be supplied. Not only does this represent the first business JATCO has concluded with a Russian company, it is also the first time an AT car has been launched by AvtoVAZ.
In conjunction with the above, JATCO held an opening ceremony for its Togliatti representative office on 15 June 2012, in Togliatti, Samara Region where the AvtoVAZ headquarters is located. With the establishment of this office, JATCO will be able to respond promptly to the needs of AvtoVAZ. It will also be able to use the office as a foothold for expanding its business in the Russian automobile market.
At the opening of Togliatti representative office, CEO Hata said, "The 4-speed ATs supplied by JATCO will be the first two-pedal car for many customers in Russia.
