AvtoVAZ to Cut Next Year’s Production by 3.5%

According to Vitaly Vilchik, executive vice president of manufacturing and technology development at AvtoVAZ, the reduction in output is associated with the production transfer of the Lada 2104-07 ’Classic’ models from Togliatti to Izhevsk.
Meanwhile, the Togliatti plant is preparing to add a third shift in mid-December in order to cope with the production ramp-up of the Granta, and with the planned increase in Kalina production. The company aims to build about 150 thousand Grantas next year.
AvtoVAZ produced 545,5 thousand cars last year, 85% more than in 2009.
