Serial production of the Volkswagen up! was launched in Slovakia in August, followed by the Škoda Citigo in October and the SEAT Mii in November. Preparations for the production of NSF models began in 2009 and Volkswagen Slovakia invested €308 million in the project, creating 1,500 new workplaces at the Bratislava site. With the new high-volume small cars the company aims to reach its full annual capacity of 400,000 units next year. Volkswagen produced 144,5 thousand cars in 2010 (up 36% YoY). Thanks to the increased demand for the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg SUVs, the company could almost double production in the first half of this year.
