OJSC Avtoframos, the joint-venture between France’s Renault and the government of Moscow, is now operating at its full designed production capacity of 30 cars per hour (160,000 cars per year), the French automaker reported.
In the first nine months of 2011 the plant increased production by 72.2% to 98,778 vehicles, and the company expects to build a total of over 130 thousand units by the end the year.
September saw a new monthly record with 13,921 cars produced at Avtoframos.
The facility currently builds the Megane, Fluence, Logan and Sandero cars, the latter two models also for export markets like Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
Preparations are in full swing to get the Duster low cost SUV into production early next year.
