Dacia to Add Two New Models to Its Lineup in 2012

Next year, Romanian carmaker Dacia will start manufacturing two new cars, one in Mioveni and one in Tangiers, Morocco. It will first launch production in Romania and then on the African continent. The car to be manufactured in Mioveni is almost ready, Ziarul Financiar reported, citing people close to the matter.

In the second half of 2012, Renault will first start manufacturing the second generation Logan and later the Popster compact MPV in Morocco. According to the source, the rate of Romanian-made components will be higher than of those produced in Morocco, which will boost the turnover of domestic market suppliers.

With the launch of the new models, Dacia will also start producing a new range of 0.9 and 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engines (with internal codes H4 and H5), to replace the current 1.2 and 1.6-liter units. For their implementation, Dacia will invest over €13 million at its plant in Mioveni.
