TAGANROG, Russia - TagAZ, a privately owned contract assembler based in Taganrong unveiled its new C10 today.

The C10 is a locally assembled version of the Jianghuai Tongyue (Tojoy) sedan, a self-developed model by Anhui Jianghuai Automobile, a Chinese company. Tongyue was styled by Pininfarina and it is powered a Jianghuai's own 1.3-liter four-cylinder 93 hp engine. The new TagAZ C10 is priced from US$ 12,900.

TagAZ which has been assembling Hyundai cars for many years, has tried to break into the key C-segment previously with its self-developed Vega sedan. Engineered by TagAZ Korea, a lawsuit was filed by GM Daewoo as the Vega was apparently had too many similarities to the Chevrolet Lacetti.

TagAZ is also offering locally assembled Chery cars under the brand name Vortex. Last year there were reports about a possible tie-up with Byd, but nothing came out of it.
