Hyundai Russia Adds 5-Door Solaris to Line

The Hyundai Solaris hatchback has entered serial production at the South Korean carmaker’s St. Peterburg plant. With sales starting in early June, the 5-door Solaris will be available with the same 1.4 litre (107 hp) and 1.6 litre (123 hp) 4-cylinder DOHC petrol engines as its sedan derivative, but trim levels are different from those for the other model. Five-speed manual transmission is standard on all models, a four-speed automatic gearbox is optional.

Hyundai Motor manufacturing Russia (HMMR) plans to produce 3,9 thousand hatchbacks and 4,2 thousand sedans of the Solaris monthly. Production plan for 2011 is 105 thousand units, which includes a third model that will be added in autumn.
