ZILINA, Slovak Republic - Mr. Myung-Chul Chung has been appointed to the position of President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia plant in Teplicka nad Vahom, effective as of January 1, 2011. After more than six years Mr. In-Kyu Bae will return to Korea , the first president of the Kia Motors Slovakia, is leaving the position and will proceed his professional career within Hyundai Kia Automotive Group in the Republic of Korea.
Mr. Chung studied at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea, and successfully graduated in the field of metallurgical engineering in 1976. He started to work for Hyundai Group in 1978 working for the Procurement department. Before he joined Kia Motors Slovakia, he had been in charge of the vehicle parts procurement. During his career with Hyundai, he also gained experience in overseas operations such as the Hyundai plant in Canada and Indonesia project. In 2005, he became the Head of the Purchasing and Procurement Group at Kia Motors Slovakia. Together with his colleagues he participated in establishment of the first Kia production facility in Europe. In 2011, he became the President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia.
