Winkelmann Invests €30 Million to Expand Polish Operations

LEGNICA, Poland - Winkelmann Sp. z o.o., a subsidiary of German Winkelmann Group, plans to significantly expand its manufacturing complex in Legnica, Poland, where it manufactures products for the automotive industry as well as for the heating and water supply industries in different plants.

The company will invest at least PLN120 million (approx. €30 million) to enlarge an existing factory of heaters in the Legnica Special Economic Zone, and to build a new production plant for gearbox components in Legnickie Pole, in response to an increased demand from the automotive sector. The project will initially create 10 new jobs and safeguard a total of 990 jobs at the LSSE complex until 2016. Ultimately the new gearbox plant could employ even 100 people. Construction work is scheduled to begin in the spring and the facility is expected to come online in late 2011.

Winkelmann is one of the oldest investors in the LSSE. By the end of 2010 it had invested more than PLN 500m (€129m) in the zone, where it has three factories.
