UK’s Zero Carbon 2020 to Produce EVs in Bulgaria

SOFIA, Bulgaria - UK based Zero Carbon 2020 Ltd. plans to commence production of electric vehicles at a plant in Bulgaria's southern city of Stara Zagora by the second or third quarter of 2011, Jamie Robertson, the company's director announced at a recently held electric vehicle conference in Sofia.

The company chose Bulgaria for this project location due to its geographic and strategic location, improving position within Europe and ready pool of skilled engineers and sustainable economic base.

The initial investment value is estimated to reach €3.3 million, and if the market reacts well, it is expected to reach €10-12 million.

The company plans to assemble 2 and 4 seater EVs at the Stara Zagora plant, with a top speed of 120kph and range options of up to 300km.

Zero Carbon 2020 work in partnership with another UK company - Liberty E Cars, which is considering investing in Bulgaria as well – in the manufacturing of electric cars parts (batteries, electronics etc).

Zero Carbon 2020 is promising big things, but there are no cars in sight.
