US-based Pittsburgh Glass Works LLC has started contruction of its first plant abroad. The PLN240 million (approx. €60 million) facility in Sroda Slaska, south-western Poland, will produce windshields, side and rear windows for OEMs like Daimler AG and General Motors. When fully operational, the Polish subsidiary will provide jobs for 150 employees.
The company, which operates six plants in the USA, decided to locate its new facility in Sroda Slaska mainly because of an easy access to qualified workers. Among other factors which made the localisation competetive and attractive there was a well-prepared investment lot, proximity of a highway and efficiency of local administration.
