Avtotor to Launch Production of the Opel Meriva in May

KALININGRAD, Russia - Russian car maker Avtotor will start SKD assembly of the new Opel Meriva at its Kaliningrad plant in May. In Russia, the Meriva will be offered with naturally aspirated (100hp) and turbocharged (140hp) 1.4 litre petrol engines, as well as with a (110hp) 1.7 litre turbodiesel unit.

Avtotor also produces the Opel Zafira MPV and the third generation Opel Astra in four body types. In 2009 the company assembled 21,893 Opel cars, with the Astra covering 85% of the total production.

Avtotor, a contract assembler in Kaliningrad is taking up local assembly of the new minivan.
