NIZHNEKAMSK, Russia - The first batch of Continental-brand tyres in the 315/80R 22.5 HSL1 size has came off the production line at the Nizhnekamsk plant.
JSC Tatneft and Continental AG signed an agreement for manufacturing tires with solid steel cord under the off-take system in late September 2010. The contract calls for production of 20 tyre models of various sizes, and up to 200 thousand units annually.
The first Continental tyres were produced in October 2010. The Nizhnekamsk Solid Metal Cord Tyre Plant was put into operation in December 2009. Tatneft, a project’s investor, says manufacturing solid steel cord tyres is the most promising area of tyre business.
